BITMAP V. VECTOR Images
Agenda for 1/10/18 with Substitute Teacher
- Hey graphic designers!!! I am out the next few days at a conference in Sacramento. I promise I'm NOT extending my winter break :) I was going to tell you this news yesterday but I decided to get sick yesterday morning as well (with the flu going around, I wasn't sure if that's what I had or not...it wasn't). I have some light activities for you to do the next few days that I promise should NOT take the whole period (30-35 minutes hopefully at most).
- Have your Daily Boot Up out from yesterday (on working with Microsoft Paint). Also you should have received a notes sheet from the substitute teacher called "Bitmaps vs. Vectors" (you'll need a pen or pencil)
- Begin watching the first video below of Parslow going over the pros and cons of using Microsoft Paint
3. Begin watching the video below on the difference between bitmap graphics (which you worked with last semester) and vector images (which you will be spending time with working on this semester):
4. After watching this video above, now have your notes in front of you that you received earlier this period called "Bitmaps vs. Vectors". Follow along with Parslow in the video below as you go over the differences between them. Note: I had some video game design students complain yesterday that they could not save their files to their student accounts; saying that the server was full. If you get this message when saving to your student account, try saving to the "Desktop" instead (you only need this file below real quickly and not for turning in):

5. That's it!! If you need to finish your "My First Drawing", make sure to do so if you have time remaining in class (I didn't mention this yesterday, but remember to go into Microsoft Paint FIRST then go to File > Open to open your assignment; double-clicking this file will open it in Adobe Fireworks; sorry for the late reminder here). After finishing your assignment, submit the file though SchoolLoop (due on Thursday, 1/11).
