11/8 Assignment - Data Breach Rapid Research Paper
- Open a new Google Doc. Save this as "Data Breach Rapid Research"
- Click the link below for "The World's Biggest Data Breaches".
- Choose a company that you are interested in learning more about their data breach.
- In your Google Doc, write about the following (pretend as if you are writing for your performance task and be very descriptive on what is being asked):
- Paragraph 1: Introduction into the company you are writing about and a quick description of what they do (you might need to research another site to get an understanding as to what they do). What kind of data does this company collect (from customers, other competitors, it's vendors, etc.)? Give a quick explanation as to why you picked this company for your data breach rapid research assignment.
- Paragraph 2: On "The World's Biggest Data Breaches" website, click the bubble to "View Report" on what happened with this company and how their data was breached. Read the article. Give a 6-8 sentence summary in this paragraph.
- Paragraph 3: Explain why the data you listed in #1 above would be important and worth it for others to steal. You might be able to research the answer. But if not, then come up with an idea as to why.
- Paragraph 4: Have there been data breaches since this event that you are writing about? Do a quick search to see if there has been any. Have there been data breaches to other related companies (i.e. if you chose Twitter, were there data breaches to other social media companies). Based on your search results, do you believe data breaches will continue for this company (or for the industry they are in)? Explain.
- List your sources at the bottom of your paper. Similar to what you would have to do on the actual Performance Task, make sure each of your sources is referenced in the paragraphs (using in-text referencing).
