Rewind, Pause, or Fast Forward? - My answer has a special meaning for me because today is my kids' (Byron and Juliana's) 12th Birthday. So for me, I would choose the Pause button. They are growing up so fast and sometimes, I just want to hit that Pause button a little bit more to enjoy this time. Before I know it, they'll be students at Los Osos just like you!
Office Hours - Beginning this week, I will make myself available from 9:30 to 10:00 AM every Tuesday and Thursday morning on Zoom in case you have any questions you want to ask me on your Create PT or if you and your partner want to go into a breakout room to discuss your project together. This is completely optional and not required. But please understand, I can only answer questions you have regarding directions about the Create PT or technical issues you may be having. I cannot give you feedback on the project, written responses, etc. I will still answer your questions via Remind messages or emails if you prefer that method as well. Zoom IDs and Passwords will be sent out just before I'm scheduled to go online.
Reminder - Last Day for Late Work This Week! - Even though we are a couple of weeks away, it's important to start talking about when late work is due. All missing work needs to be turned in as soon as you can get it into me. However the last day I will accept ANY missing work is Friday, May 8th. It's important to understand I will NOT accept ANY missing work after this date. This is of course with the exception of your Explore and Create PTs into your CollegeBoard Portfolio (which will be due after this date).
This Week's Tasks/Assignment:
Time to Get Going!- As of Sunday (5/3), I only had about 35 of you that were underway with the project (if you are brainstorming, you are not included in this 35). That leaves about 29 of you that need to start! It's the first week of May and your other AP Exams are coming up soon. As I mentioned over a week ago, you don't want to get caught up worrying about multiple other AP Exams when you haven't begun this project. If you haven't figured out your project, you need to figure it out quickly. Those of you that have not started the coding yet, I will be reaching out to you this week to ask (1) are you still going to complete the Performance Task in receiving a score from the CollegeBoard (or are you going to not submit and request a full refund) and if you are going to stick with it (2) do you have a project idea narrowed down?
But before you begin, start with these steps:
Fill out the Google Form you see on the "Create Performance Task" page (you will only have to fill this out one time; but fill it out only when you are ready to begin)
Download these two documents from that same "Create Performance Task" page:
Create PT Survival Guide (you may want to look at these pages for the planning/start of your project: Pages 9-13)
Programming Journal - each day you work on your Create PT, you will fill in one of the entries. The 1st three entries were due last Friday, May 1st; entries 4-6 will be due this Friday, May 8th. Similar to before, if you are not done with the first six entries by this Friday, that's OK and you'll just submit them to me when you are done.
