No no no! Not those kind of masks! The layer, vector, and quick masks we create in Photoshop! Answer the following questions to see if you are getting it (look at your review sheet if needed):
- What do the colors of black and white represent when working with masks?
- So when we add a gradient mask, we use a black/white gradient. What other color is NOW seen in your layer mask? What does this color mean as to how much is revealed in your mask?
- Which tool do you use from Tools Panel in order to add or subtract to your layer mask?
- You start painting with white to your mask and you notice that it's ACTUALLY painting white on your image. You don't want this to happen! What did you forget to do before adding this color?
- Bottom line: why do we add masks to our layers when it would just be as easy as to use the Eraser Tool to get rid of what we don't want?
